Instead of being concerned about democracy, you should rather be asking why the state failed to comply with the Judge's previous order to filed signed witness statements? The AG's office is wasting tax payers' money when it fails to adhere to court rules, prompting unnecessary continuances at tax payers' expense. The defendants have a right to demand that the State abides by court rules, just as the State expects the defense to also abide the same rules or risk being sanctioned by the court.
