Team officials were seen mocking Moroccan fans
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to review incidents involving Senegal’s players and team officials following their dramatic U17 AFCON semi-final victory over Morocco on Thursday, May 28, 2026, amid reports of provocative celebrations directed at fans.
Senegal booked their place in the final after a tense encounter that ended level in regulation time before being decided on penalties, but the match has since been overshadowed by post-game scenes that have sparked debate.
Morocco had looked set for elimination after Senegal took the lead through Mouhamed Wagner in the first half.
However, the hosts fought back deep into stoppage time, earning a penalty in the 90+9 minute, which Ismail El Aoud converted the rebound to level the score and force a shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Morocco missed four spot-kicks, while Senegal initially missed their first attempt but recovered to edge a 7–6 victory, sealing their place in the final.
However, attention quickly shifted to Senegal’s celebrations. Some players were seen gesturing towards the crowd in what has been described as taunting behaviour, while certain team officials were also captured mimicking crying gestures in front of Moroccan supporters.
The reactions have triggered backlash on social media, with critics describing the conduct as unprofessional and disrespectful despite the high emotions of the occasion.
CAF is now expected to review footage from the match and determine whether disciplinary action will be taken against the Senegalese delegation.
