Four New Additions the Black Queens
Four players have secured places in Ghana’s Black Queens squad following an impressive showing during the recent home-based screening exercise held as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Goalkeeper Osman Huzeima of Jonina Football Academy, Diana Amoako of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, and Mavis Owusu, who plays for Fomeget GSK in Turkey, were all rewarded with call-ups after excelling during the assessment programme.

The two-day screening exercise was supervised by Black Queens B head coach Yusif Basigi and closely monitored by Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren as part of efforts to identify emerging talent capable of strengthening the senior national team.
In addition to the three players selected from the screening programme, Portugal-based Louisa Animwaa has also been invited to join the squad after enjoying a successful campaign with her club, Valadares Gaia.
The four players are expected to report to camp on June 1 alongside the rest of the squad as the Black Queens intensify preparations for the upcoming 2026 Africa Cup of Nations.
