Angel Carbonu is the former President of NAGRAT
Former President of the National Graduate Association of Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, has claimed that he rejected multiple enticing offers allegedly intended to influence the inclusion of LGBTQ-related content in educational documents during his time in office.
In a video posted on Facebook on May 31, 2026, Angel Carbonu said he was approached several times with substantial financial inducements to permit LGBTQ sentiments to be discreetly incorporated into some educational materials.
“I have been enticed several times with huge sums of money to allow some of these sentiments of LGBTQ to pass through certain documents, albeit silently, and I can assure you and trust me on this, I vehemently rejected it,” he stated.
He said these encounters left him questioning the extent of international funding and support directed toward LGBTQ advocacy efforts.
The former NAGRAT President wondered why individuals and organisations across the world appear willing to invest considerable resources in promoting LGBTQ programmes.
“The verve, the emotion, the willingness and readiness to let out huge sums of money, the calibre of people who support these programmes all over the world, my question is: what motivates them?” he asked.

The former NAGRAT leader also alleged that some meetings hosted by diplomatic missions in Accra often evolved into discussions centred on LGBTQ issues.
According to him, the stated objectives of such meetings were often broad and unclear, with the focus on LGBTQ matters only becoming evident after discussions had commenced.
“As President of NAGRAT, I was invited to several embassies in Accra to attend meetings. The theme of these meetings was very ambiguous, to say the least. It was when you went for the meeting that you realised that the discussions began gradually to zero in on specific issues of LGBTQ,” he said.
Carbonu further maintained that the education sector is grappling with more pressing concerns that deserve greater attention and resources.
“There are weightier matters in the education field than LGBTQ,” he stressed.
