The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has dismissed reports suggesting it is considering the sale of its newly constructed headquarters, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 2, 2026, the central bank refuted a publication by MyJoyOnline titled "Bank of Ghana considering sale of new $260m headquarters – sources," insisting that no such discussions or plans exist.
“The Bank of Ghana categorically states that this report is false and misleading,” the statement said.
According to the Bank, the new headquarters remains a strategic asset that is critical to its operations and its ability to effectively carry out its statutory mandate.

“The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters,” it stated.
The BoG said the facility was commissioned to support the Bank’s operations and improve efficiency in the discharge of its responsibilities as Ghana’s central bank.
The central bank urged the public and the media to disregard the publication, warning that unverified reports concerning the institution could have broader implications for confidence in the country’s financial system.
“Unverified reports of this nature have the potential to undermine public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary market uncertainty,” the statement noted.
