Derrick Kohn missed out on the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup
Despite the disappointment of missing out on Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Derrick Köhn has thrown his support behind the Black Stars ahead of the tournament.
The left-back was one of the notable omissions from the final squad, a decision that sparked debate among supporters and led to criticism from some quarters, including members of his family.
However, the defender has chosen to focus on backing his teammates rather than dwelling on his exclusion.
In comments reported by 3Sports, Köhn sent a message of support to the Black Stars as they prepare to represent Ghana on football’s biggest stage.

“Wishing my teammates and all Ghanaian fans a successful World Cup. I will be supporting the team and wishing the boys all the best,” he said.
The message is likely to be welcomed by supporters, especially given the discussions that have followed his omission from the squad.
Köhn had been hoping to secure a place in the team after featuring for Ghana and establishing himself as an option at left-back.
However, head coach Carlos Queiroz ultimately opted for other players as he finalised his squad for the tournament in North America.
The Black Stars are currently putting the finishing touches to their preparations for the World Cup and will face Wales on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, before beginning their Group L campaign against Panama, England and Croatia.
