Black Stars player ratings after 1-1 draw against Wales

The Black Stars were denied victory in Carlos Queiroz's first game in charge after Lewis Koumas scored deep into stoppage time to earn Wales a 1-1 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Ghana on Tuesday, June 2, secured their first point in a friendly or competitive game for the first time since November 2025.

After six consecutive defeats against Japan, South Korea, Austria, Germany and Mexico, the Black Stars ended the terrible run of form after drawing with Wales in the pre-World Cup friendly game.

The Black Stars looked set for victory after Caleb Yirenkyi gave Ghana the lead in the 66th minute.

However, Wales salvaged a draw late in the game when Lewis Koumas found the net to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.

Coach Carlos Queiroz used 21 players during the match as he continued assessing his squad ahead of Ghana's opening fixture against Panama at the Toronto Stadium on June 17 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
