President John Dramani Mahama has begun a State Visit to the Republic of Belarus at the invitation of President Aleksandr Grigorievi Lukashenko.

The visit, which commences today, Friday, June 5, 2026, is aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and exploring new areas of cooperation in economic, agricultural, and technical sectors.

According to a statement from the Presidency on June 5, 2026, upon arrival in Minsk, President Mahama will lay a wreath at the Victory Monument in honour of Soviet Army soldiers and Belarusian partisans who fought bravely during World War II.

A central highlight of the visit will be high-level talks between President Mahama and President Lukashenko.

The two leaders are expected to hold private discussions followed by an expanded diplomatic session with ministers and senior officials from both countries.

The talks will focus on strategic partnerships in agriculture, education, and commerce.

In line with Ghana’s industrialisation and food security agenda, President Mahama will travel to Brest, where he will tour one of the region’s largest processors of milk, cheese, and baby products.

The visit is expected to facilitate knowledge sharing and potential partnerships in agro-processing.

He will also pay respects at the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex, a historic site of Soviet resistance during World War II.
