Black Stars winger, Antoine Semenyo has missed out on a nomination for the prestigious PFA Players’ Player of the Year award despite enjoying one of the finest seasons of his career.

The six-man shortlist, announced on Friday, June 5, 2026, features Bruno Fernandes, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhães, David Raya, Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki.

The award is voted for by fellow professional footballers and is regarded as one of the highest individual honours in English football.

Semenyo's omission has sparked debate among fans, with some questioning how the Ghana international failed to make the final six after a standout Premier League campaign.

The former Bournemouth forward had a magnificent season in the just ended Premier League campaign, scoring 17 goals and assisting 4 times.

Discussions on social media have highlighted his absence, with several supporters arguing that he deserved consideration ahead of some of the shortlisted players.

The 26-year-old was among the nominees for the Premier League Player of the Season award earlier in the campaign, recognition that reflected his impressive performances and growing influence in England's top flight.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's Premier League-winning season is reflected in the inclusion of three players on the shortlist, while Fernandes' record-breaking campaign and Haaland's goalscoring exploits also earned recognition.

The winner of the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award will be announced at the annual PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on August 25, 2026.
