Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku has dismissed long-standing suggestions that he interferes in Black Stars team selection, insisting that his role is limited to administrative engagement with the technical team.
Speaking during an interview on The Delay Show, Okraku addressed repeated public concerns that officials within the football leadership influence player call-ups and squad decisions for the national team.
According to him, the interactions between the GFA leadership and the national team coaches are often misunderstood as interference when, in reality, they form part of structured and conventional football administration.
“Firstly, every person who works in Ghana’s football was appointed by the Executive Committee or me. Each one of them is answerable to the ExCo. That is not interference,” he explained.

Okraku stressed that while the association maintains oversight of football structures, the responsibility for selecting players remains entirely with the technical team in charge of the Black Stars.
He further clarified that his interactions with coaches fall under normal professional engagement and not direct involvement in sporting decisions.
“When it comes directly to the work of coaches of the national team, nobody interferes in that job. Our various levels of engagements are conventional,” he said.
The GFA president added that many people misunderstand the timing of squad announcements, noting that he often learns about the Black Stars selection at the same time as the general public.
