The Asante Akyem Traditional Council, led by Nana Juaben Afrakoma Serwaa Kusi Oboadum, on June 4, 2026, held a 40-day observance in honour of the late Agogomanhene, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong.
The ceremony attracted traditional leaders from across Asanteman, including chiefs and queen mothers who gathered to pay tribute to the revered ruler and statesman.
Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang led a government delegation to the event, which was also attended by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, and other prominent personalities.
One-Week Observance of the late Nana Akuoko Sarpong slated for June 4
Former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Movement for Change founder Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, and several former lawmakers were among the dignitaries present.
Nana Akuoko Sarpong passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 88, barely two months after marking 50 years on the Agogo stool, leaving behind a legacy of distinguished service in chieftaincy, governance, and public life.
