Netizens have taken a swipe at the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, after he lashed out at the state-owned Daily Graphic over its front-page coverage of the recent strike at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The backlash followed his comments accusing the newspaper of downplaying government achievements while focusing on negative developments.

One user, Ameyaw, challenged his narrative, stressing the role of taxpayer funding in public media coverage.

Daily Graphic isn't government PR - Nana Aba chides Dafeamekpor

“‘Government-funded’ actually means taxpayer-funded. The money belongs to the Ghanaian people, so the news should too. We can't feed our families or heal the sick with government PR tours. A massive shutdown at a major hospital like KATH affects real lives on the ground,” the user wrote.

Another user, Sam Klu, also pushed back, warning against political pressure on the media.

“Unless your idea is to incite your party robots to attack them any time they publish or put the editor under pressure, there is absolutely little wisdom in what you posted,” he said.

Arkstone Creative (@Marmah_Ish) added: “Man wants to make the Daily Graphic an extension of Woezor.”

Another commentator noted that the MP has a history of similar public disputes with the newspaper over editorial decisions.

Dafeamekpor took to social media on June 9, 2026, to question the Daily Graphic’s editorial choices, describing its front-page focus as misplaced.

“This is the front page of the Daily Graphic. A govt-sponsored newspaper that has for some strange reasons decided to gloss over major positive govt activities but instead focus on negative happenings,” he wrote.

He argued that several national developments were being overlooked, including the President’s investment engagements abroad, the Vice President’s tour of flood-prone areas in Accra, and the evacuation of nearly 1,000 Ghanaians from South Africa.

“As we speak, the Prez is in Europe seeking investments from the British and Belarusians for the nation. A major news item,” he stated.

“As we speak, the govt has successfully evacuated nearly 1000 Ghanaians stranded in South Africa due to xenophobic attacks. A major news item,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Komfo Anokye Doctors’ Association (KADA) has suspended its industrial action.

In a press release. KODA said the decision was reached after the intervention of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the hospital’s Board, management and other key stakeholders.
