Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, Wisdom Osei Boamah, has denied allegations that he deployed individuals to prevent members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament from accessing and touring the Afari Military Hospital.

In a statement issued on June 10, 2026, Boamah described as ‘false, baseless, and misleading’ reports circulating in sections of the media that he had orchestrated efforts to obstruct the visit of Minority Members of Parliament to the facility.

The reports also alleged that the MCE called and threatened a security officer at the hospital with dismissal from her position.

However, Boamah firmly rejected the claims, stating that he had never made any call to intimidate, threaten, or seek the removal of any hospital staff member.

“At no point have I made any call to threaten, intimidate, or seek the removal of any staff member of the hospital. Neither have I sent any person or group of persons to obstruct or prevent the Minority MPs from visiting the facility,” he said.

Boamah further clarified that the Afari Military Hospital is a military installation under the authority and administration of the Ghana Armed Forces and that access to the facility is governed by military protocols and procedures.

According to him, despite the hospital being located within the municipality, the Municipal Assembly does not exercise administrative or operational control over the facility.

“Even as Municipal Chief Executive, I am required to obtain the necessary permission from the appropriate military authorities before visiting the facility,” he indicated.

He explained that matters relating to the hospital’s security, management, and access remain solely under the jurisdiction of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Boamah therefore urged the public to disregard the reports and avoid spreading misinformation, stressing the need for responsible communication and the protection of public confidence in state institutions.

“Let us remain committed to truth, responsible communication, and the preservation of public confidence in our institutions,” he stressed.
