The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), in partnership with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), has officially launched the Sustainable African Value-Chain Initiative (SAVI) at the Embassy of Denmark in Accra.

The launch brought together industry leaders, AGI member companies, representatives of the Danish Embassy, development partners, and sustainability experts to mark the beginning of a three-year programme aimed at supporting Ghanaian businesses to become more sustainable, competitive, and export-ready.

Speaking at the event, AGI President, Pharm. Dr Kofi Nsiah-Poku, highlighted the growing importance of sustainability in today’s business environment, noting that it is no longer merely a compliance requirement but a key driver of competitiveness, resilience, and long-term business success.

He encouraged AGI member companies to embrace sustainable practices as a strategic advantage that can open doors to new markets and investment opportunities.

H.E. Jakob Linulf, Ambassador of Denmark to Ghana, described SAVI as a reflection of Denmark’s commitment to building strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with African countries.

He noted that the initiative aligns with Denmark’s Africa Strategy and will create opportunities for stronger business linkages between Ghanaian and Danish companies while promoting sustainable production and trade.

Funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and jointly implemented by AGI and DI, SAVI will support participating companies in key areas including decarbonisation, water efficiency, ESG compliance, sustainable value-chain management, and readiness for emerging international sustainability regulations.

Through training, technical assistance, peer learning, and one-on-one support, the initiative will help AGI member companies improve operational efficiency, strengthen sustainability reporting, enhance competitiveness, and increase access to both local and international markets.

AGI has encouraged eligible member companies to take advantage of the programme as Ghana’s industrial sector advances toward a more sustainable and competitive future.
