John Dramani Mahama is the President of Ghana
Solomon Owusu has stated that President John Mahama should focus less on approval ratings and more on fulfilling the responsibilities outlined in Ghana’s Constitution.
Speaking on Joy News after the release of the latest IEA survey, Owusu argued that constitutional obligations provide a more meaningful benchmark for government performance than opinion polls.
“President Mahama should go back to Chapter Six of the Constitution and look at what is expected of him,” he said.
Chapter Six of the Constitution outlines the Directive Principles of State Policy, which guide governance and national development.
According to Owusu, governments risk becoming distracted if they focus excessively on popularity figures.
“This business of ratings can sometimes be deceptive,” he added.
He maintained that the central question should not be whether a president is popular but whether key national objectives are being achieved.
“As we speak, what many young people are waiting for is employment,” Owusu stressed.
Owusu argued that the country’s pressing challenges, particularly unemployment, require practical solutions rather than attention to polling numbers.
“The real issue is whether people’s lives are improving,” he said.
