The Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), Office of the President, has expressed confidence that Ghanaian farmers and agribusiness professionals will embrace innovative digital agricultural solutions as the country continues to advance in the technology age.
Speaking on behalf of the Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, at the launch of Complete Farmer's CF Grower and CF Buyer platforms, the Programmes Coordinator of PIAA, Emmanuel Owusu, stated that Ghana's growing adoption of technology presents a significant opportunity for digital agriculture to flourish.
According to him, innovative platforms such as CF Grower and CF Buyer are well-positioned to transform of Ghana's agricultural ecosystem and should be encouraged.
" Given the increasing adoption of technology across Ghana, there is every reason to believe that Ghanaians will embrace innovative platforms the CF Grower and CF Buyer to improve market access," Owusu stated.
The digital solutions are designed to connect farmers and buyers while providing farmers with technological tools to improve productivity and decision-making throughout the farming cycle.
Chief Executive Officer of Complete Farmer, Desmond Koney, said the idea behind the platform was inspired by his upbringing in a farming family and a desire to improve the fortunes of farmers. "My dad was a farmer, my grandfather was a farmer, and I felt the need to change the narrative of farmers," he said.
Koney explained that the company seeks to bridge the gap between farmers and buyers by creating a seamless marketplace that enables both parties to transact efficiently.
He noted that the newly launched CF Grower platform provides farmers with an end-to-end operating system that supports every stage of production, including land mapping, soil and crop recommendations, and crop-specific agronomic guidance.
"Farmers can, for the first time, have an end-to-end operating system guiding them on their farming journey, from land mapping to crop and soil recommendations and agronomic models built specifically for different crops," he said.
The platform also connects key stakeholders within the agricultural ecosystem to improve efficiency and productivity. Executive Director of the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, commended Complete Farmer's growth, describing it as evidence of how innovative ideas can evolve into successful businesses when given the necessary support.
Marketing Manager of Complete Farmer, Weetsa Adinku, said the launch was not merely about introducing new technology but about strengthening the journey from farm to table.
"Every connection we create, every transaction we enable and every solution we build is designed to make that journey more efficient, more transparent and more rewarding for everyone involved," she stated.
Adinku said the company remains committed to empowering farmers, expanding market access, improving transparency and creating opportunities across the agricultural ecosystem.
Chief Technology Officer of Complete Farmer, Kola Olajide, highlighted the role of innovation and artificial intelligence in advancing food sustainability across Africa.
"Food sustainability is key for the continent, and the more we can support local production, the more prosperous the continent will be," he said.
Olajide revealed that the platform incorporates artificial intelligence tools that allow farmers to use their mobile phones to assess crop health and identify nutrient deficiencies.
"Now you can use your phone to scan a crop and it can tell you where the deficiencies are," he explained.
He added that the platform has been designed with smallholder farmers in mind and can function even in areas with limited internet connectivity through an offline mode operated by the company's field agents.
According to him, once internet access becomes available, all data collected offline is automatically synchronized, ensuring farmers are not excluded from the benefits of digital agriculture.
