Three male occupants of the Yutong VVIP bus, including the driver, sustained injuries
Three people, including a woman and a child, have been killed in a fatal road accident involving a Yutong VVIP bus and a Toyota Sienna at Yikurigu in Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
The crash occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2026, along the Bolgatanga–Zebilla–Bawku highway.
According to information released by Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Yutong VVIP bus was travelling towards Bawku while the Toyota Sienna was heading towards Bolgatanga when the collision occurred.
"The Yutong VVIP bus was travelling towards Bawku, while the Toyota Sienna was heading towards Bolgatanga when the collision occurred," the statement said.
Three occupants of the Toyota Sienna, a man, a woman and a child, died instantly on the scene.
"The crash resulted in the death of three (3) occupants of the Toyota Sienna at the scene, including a man, a woman, and a child," the statement added.
Three male occupants of the Yutong VVIP bus, including the driver, sustained injuries and were rushed to the Zebilla Hospital for treatment.

"Three (3) male occupants of the Yutong VVIP bus, including the driver, sustained injuries and were transported to the Zebilla Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention," authorities noted.
Meanwhile, the cause of the accident is yet to be established.
"The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined and remains under investigation," the statement said.
Authorities extended their sympathies to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
"Our thoughts remain with the bereaved families during this difficult time, while wishing the injured a full and speedy recovery," the statement concluded.
