The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Prestea Huni-Valley in the Western Region, Dr Mathew Ayeh, has inspected the Bogoso–Prestea road project with his Municipal Coordinating Director and Municipal Engineers, following the reassignment of the project to a new contractor.

In a statement issued after the inspection on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Dr Ayeh said the visit was to assess preparations toward the commencement of full works.

“You will recall that on May 12, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, directed the Ghana Highway Authority to commence the termination process of the previous contractor due to the slow pace of work and apparent lack of commitment to the project,” he noted.

Following that directive, a new contractor was engaged to undertake work on the stretch.

“During our inspection, we observed preparations towards the commencement of full works,” the MCE stated.

He expressed optimism that the new contractor will deliver a quality road for residents and commuters.

“It is my sincere hope that the new contractor will execute the project diligently and deliver a quality road that will serve the good people of our Municipality and improve transportation along this important corridor,” Hon. Ayeh added.

He ended his statement with: “Asomdwee Ne Nkabom”– Peace and Unity.

The Bogoso–Prestea road is a critical link for mining, farming, and trading activities in the Municipality, and residents have long called for its completion.
