Police Service and other public institutions have been ranked as the most corrupt in the latest 2026 Corruption Perception Index by Global Info Analytics released in June.

The report indicated that the police is closely followed by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), with business executives emerging among the worst-rated institutions for the first time.

According to the index released by Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah, and shared on X on June 15, 2026, institutions were scored based on public perceptions of corruption.

The top 10 institutions perceived to be the most corrupt during the June 2026 period are the Police Service was scored (6.45), Immigration Service (5.69), business executives (5.45), the judiciary (5.41), the Ghana Revenue Authority (5.35), MMDA officials (5.24), traditional leaders (5.14), the Electoral Commission of Ghana (5.08), the Ghana Prisons Service (5.01) and Parliament (4.95).

Meanwhile, ministers and government officials scored 4.54), the presidency (4.84), the military (4.90) and religious leaders (4.94) were ranked among the least perceived corrupt institutions in the country during the same period.

Ghana fails to break the 43-point ceiling on Corruption Index

Dankwah noted that although the police and immigration services retained the top two positions, their scores had improved compared to previous polls, suggesting possible progress in tackling corruption concerns within those institutions.

“The corruption perception index for June 2026 shows the least perceived corrupt institutions in Ghana are ministers/government officials, the presidency and the military. The most corrupt is still the Ghana Police, Ghana Immigration Service and now business executives who have sunk low for the first time,” he stated.

According to him, while ministers and government appointees recorded improved scores in the latest poll, the presidency saw a slight deterioration, moving from a score of 4.77 in March to 4.84 in June 2026.

Dankwah cautioned that the trend surrounding the presidency should be closely monitored.

“Though the Ghana Police Service and the Immigration Service retained the number one and two spots, their overall score improves, suggesting something good might be happening in those services. While ministers/government appointees score improved compared to last poll, the presidency actually deteriorated, moving from a low score of 4.77 in March to 4.84 in June 2026. They must be on the watchout,” he indicated.
