The Deputy Director-General in charge of Finance and Administration at the National Service Authority (NSA), Fuseini Donkor, has expressed confidence in the ability of the Ghana Police Service to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of a young university student whose body was recently discovered under mysterious circumstances.

Speaking on JoyNews on Monday, June 15, 2026, he said the police have the capacity to investigate the case thoroughly and bring closure to the bereaved family if all the necessary steps are taken.

Reflecting on the tragedy, he said he could only imagine the pain and hardship the family is currently enduring, especially considering the victim's academic achievements and the sacrifices made to support her education.

"Seriously, I can imagine what this family is going through. She's just 20 years and in the university, and not just an average or ordinary student, but a brilliant student on scholarship," he said.

According to him, the fact that the deceased had benefited from a scholarship supported by Ketu North MP Eric Edem Agbana attests to the financial difficulties her family may have been facing.

"It tells you what the parents had to go through before Honorable Edem Agbana had to intervene. Being on the MP's scholarship means the family was struggling, so, the MP had to step in because she was a brilliant student," he stated.

He urged investigators not to relent in their efforts to uncover the truth behind the student's death, insisting that the Ghana Police Service has a proven track record of solving complex criminal cases.

"Ghana Police, unless they don't want to do it, or maybe a certain powerful hand is interfering. Otherwise, if you like, bury the person and put a structure on it, they will dig it out," he said.

He cited previous high-profile criminal investigations as evidence that the security agencies possess the expertise and resources needed to identify suspects and prosecute offenders.

"If they want to find the people, they will find them. As for the criminal aspects, all we can hope for is that this wasn't an accident. If it was a crime, by all means, it will come out," he added.

He further called for swift action by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Ghana Police Service, stressing the need to provide answers to the grieving family.

"We just pray for expedited action from the CID and the Ghana Police Service on this. They should please do that and give the family closure," he appealed.

He also suggested that investigators make full use of available technology, including the deceased's phone records, to aid the investigation.

According to him, tracking calls, messages and other digital activities could help investigators piece together the events leading to her death and identify persons of interest.

The death of the young student has sparked widespread public concern and renewed calls for a thorough investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
