Tunisia head coach Sabri Lamouchi has been dismissed following the team’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their FIFA World Cup match on June 15, 2026.

The announcement comes as stunning news, given that the tournament is still in progress and Tunisia has two remaining matches against the Netherlands and Japan, both expected to be tough encounters.

The team’s performance on the day was abysmal, with players struggling to find their rhythm, resulting in a heavy defeat.

According to reports, Tunisian Football Association has chosen Mondher Kebaier to take over as head coach to oversee the remaining matches.

Under Lamouchi’s tenure, Tunisia played five games, scoring just one goal, recording one victory and one draw, suffering three defeats, and conceding 11 goals.

After the first round of matches in Group F, Sweden leads with three points.

Japan and the Netherlands follow with a point each after their 1-1 draw, while Tunisia sits bottom with zero points.

Their subsequent performances will be closely watched following the decision to dismiss their head coach mid-tournament, as the 2026 World Cup continues across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
