Watch as Otumfuo receives rousing welcome to Toronto ahead of Black Stars-Panama clash

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, received a rousing welcome at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada ahead of Black Stars vs Panama clash.

As part of the visit, Otumfuo will hold a Breakfast Business Meeting, and take part in the opening of the Ghana Sports Village, also known as Sankofa Square.

He is expected to engage with the Black Stars players, and lead a delegation to support the match between Ghana and Panama at BMO Field.

In a viral video shared on X on June 16, 2026, scores of Ghanaians were seen gathered at the airport to welcome the revered Asante monarch, with many dressed in colourful traditional attire and waving Ghana flags as they cheered his arrival.

The atmosphere at the airport reflected excitement among members of the Ghanaian community in Toronto, many of whom turned out in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the Asantehene and pay homage to him.

Otumfuo will also attend the Culture fest’s fan festival scheduled to take place at Toronto’s Sankofa Square, an event expected to celebrate African and diasporan culture through music, fashion and cultural displays.

Tribe Culturefest will stage a major FIFA World Cup 2026 fan activation at Toronto’s Sankofa Square as Ghana prepares to face Panama in a crucial group-stage encounter on June 17, 2026.

The event forms part of the organisation’s global #FWC26Tribe campaign, which aims to celebrate Ghanaian culture and strengthen connections between communities through football, arts and business.

Organisers say the activation will feature a large public watch party, cultural performances, exhibitions, food experiences and interactive activities showcasing Ghana’s heritage.
