Residents and business operators at East Legon are raising serious safety concerns over a damaged electricity pole with exposed wires at a busy section of the Bawaleshie stretch.
The broken pole, located along a heavily patronised stretch of the Bawaleshie road, has become a source of anxiety for motorists, pedestrians and traders who use the area daily.
Despite its condition, vehicular and human traffic continue unabated, forcing many to navigate the area cautiously for fear of a potential electric shock.
Some residents say the situation poses an immediate danger, particularly during periods of heavy rain or strong winds, which could cause the pole to collapse completely and lead to injuries, property damage or power disruptions.
Business owners operating near the affected area have also expressed concern that the hanging wires and unstable pole pose a significant risk to customers and workers.
They fear that any sudden collapse could have devastating consequences given bustling activities close to the damaged pole.
The development has prompted calls for urgent intervention by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and other relevant authorities to secure the area and replace the damaged pole before disaster strikes.
