Three persons who were reported missing after floodwaters swept away their pickup truck at Akuse in the Eastern Region have been confirmed dead.
The deceased identified as Ibrahim, Dickson Atidoo, and Kennedy Ertem were among nine workers from Afienya travelling to Akuse when their vehicle was caught in raging floodwaters at the C4 section of the Akuse Rice Farms.
According to a post shared on social media by Sika Official on June 17, 2026, heavy rainfall in the area caused a nearby river to overflow its banks, resulting in severe flooding that engulfed sections of the road.

The pickup truck carrying the workers was subsequently swept away by the fast-rising waters, prompting emergency search and rescue efforts.
Following hours of search operations, the three missing workers were found dead on June 17, 2026.
Police in Akuse have since retrieved the bodies and transported them to a hospital for the necessary examinations before they are transferred to the mortuary.
