The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of the Asante Kingdom against any perceived breaches during an engagement with the Asanteman community in Canada.

He stated that the Golden Stool, which symbolises the authority of the kingdom, has gained immense prestige and will continue to remain superior in power and influence, stressing that it will never be allowed to go missing under any circumstances.

The Asantehene dismissed claims that he uses selected individuals to rule certain communities, emphasising that what belongs to the kingdom will remain intact.

Addressing Ghanaians residing in Canada, Otumfuo stressed that he will not misuse the power of the stool and urged them to uphold traditions and remain truthful to one another.

“By God’s grace, how far God has brought the Golden Stool, nobody can ever walk over the Asante Kingdom. Notwithstanding, I don’t use the stool’s power to intimidate anybody. The truth is what our fathers left for us; I will not let anybody take it.

“As there is history, and they say I took a son to stay at Nkoranza, or I built Berekum, I won’t let anybody take it. We should all be truthful for the truth and traditions to stand. And I won’t use Asante to intimidate Ghana as a nation,” he said in a video shared by Asante Nation on X.

The Asantehene’s visit was intended to strengthen ties with members of the community in Canada and reassure them of the kingdom’s safety and enduring interests.
