England manager Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Bukayo Saka is unlikely to start against Ghana as the Arsenal winger continues to recover from an Achilles injury.

“Bukayo is ready and will get more and more ready. I think once we go to the last game of this group, he will be ready,” Tuchel said.

Saka has been carefully managed since joining the England squad at the World Cup.

He trained away from the rest of the team on Saturday ahead of Tuesday’s Group L match in Boston.

Saka has been dealing with Achilles tendinitis since March, but before the tournament he said he was willing to “gamble” on his fitness to help England.

With England’s strong start against Croatia, the Black Stars will need to work diligently to secure a result that could book their ticket to the next stage of the competition.

After England’s 4–2 win against Croatia, the Three Lions lead Group L with three points, alongside Ghana, while Panama and Croatia sit third and fourth with zero points after the first round of matches.
