Koku Anyidoho is the former Deputy General Secretary of the NDC
Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has applauded the party for naming its national headquarters the “Jerry John Rawlings House” on the birth anniversary of the party’s founder.
In a post shared on his X page on June 22, 2026, Anyidoho described the move as a deeply symbolic gesture of reciprocity between two late NDC leaders, i.e former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Evans Atta-Mills.
“The building remains one of the most significant monuments built for the Party by President John Evans Atta-Mills... I know for sure that the soul of President Atta-Mills would be smiling that in death, the lasting legacy he gave the NDC is the symbol being used in honoring the man who gave him the opportunity to become Vice President - creating the opportunity to serve as President of the Republic of Ghana,” Anyidoho wrote.
He emphasised that President Atta-Mills remained eternally grateful to Rawlings for the opportunity that propelled his own political rise.

Anyidoho further congratulated the current NDC leadership for the decision, stating it would help “etch the name of Jerry John Rawlings firmly on the image of the NDC.”
Anyidoho also welcomed the announcement by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah that the future NDC Party School would be named after President Atta-Mills once the structures are completed.
He expressed confidence that the day’s events would place the party on “more solid grounds of party unity.”
"Ayekoo to the Leadership of the NDC for making it possible to etch the name of Jerry John Rawlings firmly on the image of the NDC.
“I have just been told that National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has announced that when the NDC finally puts up structures to house the Party School (I was very key in setting it up as Deputy General Secretary because President Atta-Mills and Professor Kofi Awoonor birthed the idea), it would be named after President Atta-Mills. Bravo," he said.
The renaming ceremony took place at the Adabraka headquarters in Accra on June 22, 2026, where the building constructed during the time of President Atta-Mills was officially dedicated to Rawlings on what would have been his 79th birthday.
The event included tributes, the unveiling of a bust in Rawlings’ honour, and participation by party leaders and members of the Rawlings family.
Rawlings, who passed away in 2020, founded the NDC and remains one of Ghana’s most influential political figures, credited with shaping the country’s transition to the Fourth Republic.
