Black Stars defender Marvin Senaya (L) defended well against Anthony Gordon
Ghanaian defender Marvin Senaya has revealed that he studied several video clips of England winger Anthony Gordon, which helped him curtail the attacker.
During the Black Stars’ 0-0 draw against England on June 23, 2026, Senaya delivered a brilliant performance, man-marking Gordon diligently and preventing him from taking on defenders or creating chances.
Speaking after the game, the AJ Auxerre right-back explained that he had thoroughly watched video clips of Gordon and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka for quite some time to prepare for the challenge.

He expressed delight at proving himself on the world stage:
"I watched a lot of their videos, Gordon and Saka, and I wanted to show something today. I know they are very good players. I studied them before the game because I wanted to respond and prove some things, and I think today I did that," he told journalists after the match.
Senaya added that representing the national team at the highest level has always been his dream, and he is determined to continue producing excellent performances.
"I hope this is just the start. I want this tournament and this game to bring more in the future. To be honest, I am very, very proud to have chosen Ghana. It is the best choice for me. I discussed it with my family for a long time, and I am happy with the decision," he said.
