The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, pulled Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew away from journalists when he was asked a question involving Thomas Partey.

Issues relating to Partey’s charges have been avoided during press conferences and interviews by FIFA officials and others, who insist such matters are best left unaddressed as they are being dealt with in court.

After Ghana's goalless draw game against England, journalists gathered in the media zone to interview Ayew about the match, the team’s performance, and their chances of qualification following the goalless draw against the Three Lions.

During the interview, a journalist asked Ayew about the handshake saga between Spence and Partey before kickoff.

In a video shared by 3Sports on June 25, 2026, the journalist asked, “Djed Spence refusing to shake hands with Partey…” but before the question could land, GFA spokesperson Henry Asante Twum immediately intervened, saying, “Let’s go, let’s go,” and led Ayew away.

This comes after England defender Djed Spence appeared to be the only player in the squad who did not shake Thomas Partey’s hand before England’s World Cup clash with Ghana in Boston.

Attention had focused on the pre-match handshake amid the ongoing legal case involving rape charges against the Ghana midfielder.

Television cameras cut away the moment featuring the handshake mishap, but footage circulating online appeared to show Spence keeping his right hand in the pocket of his tracksuit top as Partey approached.
