Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, believes former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta cannot avoid accountability by remaining outside Ghana while questions are raised about his time in office.
Speaking on TV3’s Key Points, on June 27, 2026, he argued that public office does not provide immunity from legal or investigative processes, even after a person leaves office or travels abroad.
He referenced international examples to support his point, including ongoing proceedings involving former officials in other jurisdictions.
He stressed that accountability mechanisms are not dependent on physical presence within a country.
According to him, allowing individuals to remain outside jurisdiction while under inquiry weakens public trust in governance systems.
“You just came, abused this country’s resources and decide that let’s run away because we are above the law,” he said.
