National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has made serious allegations against former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Rosemond Obeng.

Addressing issues, he believes, led to Obeng’s exit from the party; he chronicled a series of events prior to her decision to quit the party.

According to Mustapha, contrary to reports that her role during the NPP's 2024 campaign led to her exit, she rather exhibited tantrums and suspicious behaviours that resulted in her eventual exit from the NPP.

In a detailed account shared on his Facebook account on June 26, 2026, Mustapha shared how Rosemond was brought into the youth campaign at Dr Bawumia's request after she expressed a desire to help but that problems emerged almost immediately after she was deployed to the field.

"After two regions, I got reports about Rosemond. After the fourth region, the complaints had gotten so much worse that even some youth organisers were giving me feedback," he recounted.

Mustapha said he advised Dr Bawumia to recall her, and she was subsequently brought back to Accra and assigned a role at the campaign office.

"She never worked as a presidential aide. She never worked at the Jubilee House," he stated categorically.

At the campaign office, Mustapha says the problems continued.

He alleged Rosemond falsely claimed Dr Bawumia had authorised her to join his delegation to the UK, presenting her passport to a protocol officer which turned out to be false.

She also allegedly lied about being invited to sit in meetings she had no business attending.

“There was another incident. She wanted to sit in meetings she was not supposed to attend. At one point, my boss, Sammi Awuku, questioned her, ‘Do you have to sit in this meeting?’ She said yes; the boss told her to sit in the meeting.

“But Sammy knew that was not the case, because she was not supposed to be there. Later checks also revealed that she had no business being in the meeting and that she had lied, claiming it was the boss who had asked her to attend,” he revealed.

Mustapha further alleged that Obeng had on one occasion gone as far as trying to handle Dr Bawumia's food, in breach of established protocol.

"You cannot use the man's name in such a vile manner without his authorisation," Mustapha said.

Perhaps most strikingly, Mustapha claimed that during a trip to Sunyani, Rosemond broke down in tears because she was not lodged in the same hotel as Dr Bawumia.

"You get the opportunity to travel with him and you go and put up a show, crying because you were given a hotel separate from where the man was. What kind of obsession is that?" he asked.

He added that upon further discussions with Dr Bawumia, she was reassigned to the volunteer groups unit of the campaign team, a development she blatantly refused.

“Rosemond said no, she doesn't like it. She won't do that one. She wants to be where DMB is. When the man gives us instructions, we don't pick and choose. But you had the guts to choose what you want in the office and that you refuse to be reassigned?” he fumed.

Mustapha said he personally appealed to Dr Bawumia to secure her a scholarship abroad to help her "cool down her head" a move he says came from a place of goodwill.

However, before further action could be taken, Rosemond had defected to the NDC and was appointed as a presidential staffer; working in the office of Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu at the Jubilee House.

“DMB did no wrong to you. You messed up. I hope that young people would not behave the way that you did. That you show respect when you come into any set up. You work with the people. You don't come and say that you are more special than them,” he said.

Speaking in a video shared by 1957News on June 25, 2026, Rosemond insisted her switch was driven by patriotism and not personal gain.

"What I did was to rescue the soul of the country," she said.
