A woman identified as Angelina has publicly accused her mother-in-law, Maame Akosua Appiah, of allegedly having an intimate relationship with her own son, Phillip Yaw Attobrah.

Speaking in a video snippet sighted by GhanaWeb on June 28, 2026, Angelina alleged that she first became suspicious during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, when her husband left their matrimonial home to live with his mother.

"During the lockdown, he packed his bag and went to live with his mother. When I questioned him, he told me that when he dies, it is his family who will bury him. I later sought the intervention of journalist Ohene Nana to help resolve the issue, and that was when he admitted that he had always been staying at his mother's house and not with another woman," she claimed.

Angelina said the situation has placed a strain on her marriage, alleging that her husband gradually abandoned his responsibilities at home.

She also claimed that there were periods when they went for as long as three months without any intimacy.

"I am not working at the moment, and my husband has refused to provide for the children and take care of the household. I wasn't making an issue out of the lack of intimacy because I'm not someone who likes a lot of sex," she said.

According to Angelina, her mother-in-law admitted to having an intimate relationship with her son, prompting her to report the matter to family members for intervention.

She alleged that after the family meeting, her husband left their home and has since blocked her phone number.

Producers of Oyerepa Afutuo programme on which the allegations were made said they contacted both Phillip Yaw Attobrah and Maame Akosua Appiah, who initially agreed to respond to the claims.

However, they allegedly failed to answer subsequent calls during the broadcast.

During the programme, Angelina played audio recordings of what she said were telephone conversations involving her husband and mother-in-law.

She maintained that the recordings supported her allegations, although both individuals denied any inappropriate relationship.

Angelina further challenged both her husband and mother-in-law to come publicly to refute her claims.

She added that she is prepared to take the matter before the traditional authorities for adjudication if necessary.
