MTN Ghana has responded to complaints over widespread internet disruptions across the country, citing damage to undersea cable infrastructure off the coast of Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire.

In a customer notice issued on June 27, 2026, the telecom giant confirmed that the subsea cable cuts are impacting connectivity and data services.
"MTN Ghana would like to inform our customers that undersea cable cuts off the coast of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire are affecting connectivity and internet services in Ghana and some countries in the subregion," the statement read.

The disruption is expected to hit both consumers and businesses hard, particularly financial institutions, e-commerce operators, digital platforms, and enterprises running cloud-based services that depend on stable internet connectivity for daily operations.
MTN Ghana said it has activated engagement with its international partners to fast-track resolution and restore services with minimal delay.
"We are actively engaging our international partners to resolve the issue as soon as possible," the company added.
MTN Ghana apologised to customers for the inconvenience and assured subscribers that all necessary efforts are underway to bring services back to normal levels.
