Tension at Wa Magazine checkpoint as police and immigration officers reportedly clash

Tension flared at the Wa Magazine checkpoint in the Upper West Region after personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service reportedly clashed over an alleged verbal altercation.

According to a video shared on social media by We Love Ghana on June 29, 2026, the confrontation began when an immigration officer reportedly insulted a police officer’s mother during an undisclosed disagreement at the checkpoint.

The exchange quickly escalated, leading to a heated confrontation between members of the two security agencies stationed at the area.

Other officers and bystanders intervened to separate the parties to restore calm.
