Black Stars defender, Jonas Adjetey has admitted that representing Ghana comes with enormous pressure, saying every player understands the expectations that comes with wearing the national jersey.
Speaking in an interview on Beyond the Whistle, Adjetey said the desire of Ghanaians to see the Black Stars win every match constantly pushes players to perform at their best.
"There is a little bit of pressure, yes, but how you deal with it is the main thing," he said.
"Everyone wants the Black Stars to succeed in every game. There is nothing like a friendly match because people always want to see results."
The defender acknowledged that criticism from supporters is part of the game, insisting players understand the emotional investment fans make whenever the national team is in action.
"Some people may say things they shouldn't after games, but we understand their feelings because they spend their money to come and support us."
Adjetey also reflected on the pride that comes with representing Ghana, describing every national team call-up as a privilege.
"Anytime I get a call-up, I thank God because there are a lot of people who deserve the opportunity. I love representing my nation, so every invitation makes me excited."
The defender added that while playing for the Black Stars is an honour, remaining part of the squad requires consistent hard work.
"I'm excited to be here, but I know I have to keep doing something to remain part of the team."
