The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assured businesses and taxpayers that it is taking steps to maintain critical tax and customs services despite the heavy rains affecting parts of Accra and other areas of the country.

In a statement, the Authority acknowledged that the ongoing downpours, with more rainfall expected in the coming days, could disrupt transportation, delay the movement of goods, and interfere with normal business operations.

The Commissioner-General noted that the severe weather could also place additional pressure on businesses striving to meet customer demands and regulatory obligations.

To minimise the impact, the GRA said teams across the country's ports, border posts, and Taxpayer Service Centres (TSCs) have put measures in place to ensure that both Customs and Domestic Tax services remain operational throughout the period.

According to the Authority, the objective is to keep legitimate trade moving, reduce avoidable disruptions, and continue delivering essential services to taxpayers as efficiently as possible.

The GRA has advised businesses to plan ahead, take advantage of its digital services where appropriate, and factor possible transport delays into their operations. It also urged employers to prioritise the safety of their workers, stressing that no business activity is more important than protecting lives.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the business community during the adverse weather while ensuring the continuous collection of revenue needed to support national development.

It also wished taxpayers a safe week and encouraged the public to follow guidance issued by the relevant emergency response and weather authorities as heavy rains continue across parts of the country.
