Residents and workers in Dzorwulu in the Greater Accra Region are counting their losses after heavy rains triggered severe flooding, submerging offices, equipment, and personal property.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, a representative of the Ghana Revenue Authority Workers’ Union described the situation as worrying.

He noted that water levels rose significantly, leaving most ground-floor offices submerged.

“Our computers, stationery, fridges, and a lot of property were submerged in water. We are still assessing the level of damage. We did some cleaning yesterday but could not finish. Today we are still trying to salvage what we can,” he stated.

According to him, the flooding began gradually as runoff water entered from the roadside and overwhelmed the area’s drainage system.

Another resident also said she had lost everything to the floods.

“My salon was submerged; I lost everything. It was my customer who gave me a dress to wear,” she recounted.

Heavy rainfall that began on June 28 and continued into the early hours of June 29, 2026, triggered widespread flooding across several parts of Accra, leaving major roads submerged, disrupting traffic flow, and affecting daily activities in multiple communities.
