The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the restoration of electricity supply to most parts of the Greater Accra Region, along with the full recovery of its vending systems and payment platforms, following disruptions caused by Tuesday’s floods.
In separate updates issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the company said emergency measures introduced during the heavy rains were aimed at protecting lives, property, and critical electricity infrastructure, while assuring customers that normal services are gradually being restored.

According to ECG, power supply has largely been restored after the emergency curtailment of electricity from its Bulk Supply Points (BSPs), which was undertaken to safeguard critical installations during the flooding.
“The emergency curtailment of power supply to customers from our Bulk Supply Points (BSPs) to save lives, protect properties, and safeguard critical power installations due to the flooding has largely been restored,” it stated.
The company, however, noted that some low-lying communities remain without electricity because floodwaters have not yet receded, making it unsafe to restore power.
ECG said its fault response teams are working closely with national emergency agencies and will reconnect the remaining affected communities immediately once conditions are declared safe. It added that engineers are also repairing localised faults caused by the floods.
“Communities in lowland areas where floodwaters have not receded are still off for safety reasons. Our fault teams are in contact with national emergency teams to restore power immediately once it is declared safe,” it noted.
The company also announced that efforts to restore its electricity vending systems and payment platforms, which were affected by the floods, have been completed.
“Efforts to fully restore the vending systems and payment platforms affected by the recent floods have been completed,” the statement said.
“Customers can now top up their electricity credit using the PowerApp or at the nearest vending point,” it added.
ECG advised customers who continue to experience challenges with electricity vending to contact its Customer Contact Centre on 0302 611611 or reach the company through its official social media platforms for assistance.
