Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye is the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost
Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, has called on Ghana's political leaders to prioritise long-term national development over short-term election promises if the country is to achieve lasting progress.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on July 1, 2026, Apostle Nyamekye urged leaders to focus on building the same strong foundations that have driven the development of advanced nations rather than merely seeking to replicate their successes.

He criticised what he described as the country's reliance on superstition, political prophecies and election-cycle planning, arguing that such practices undermine sustainable development.
"We need to move this nation away from superstition and the politics of election cycles. Our planning should not be based on the next four years because Ghana is not going to end tomorrow," he said.
The Church of Pentecost Chairman stressed that national development should be guided by a long-term, non-partisan vision spanning generations rather than changing political manifestos.
Drawing from the biblical principle that "a tree is recognised by its fruits," he said Ghana must first strengthen its foundations before expecting meaningful results.
Apostle Nyamekye also referenced sociologist Max Weber's book, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, noting that the prosperity of many European countries was built on values such as discipline, sacrifice, long-term thinking and commitment to future generations.
According to him, Ghana should emulate those underlying values instead of focusing only on the visible achievements of developed countries.
He further urged Ghanaians to embrace integrity, patriotism and sacrifice, saying leadership is not merely about solving immediate problems but about inspiring citizens with a clear vision for the country's future.
"There is hope for Ghana. God has not abandoned this nation. We must do our part by laying the right foundations, and God will bless our efforts," he said.
