Founder of Heaven's Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has dismissed claims that his church was flooded because it is built on a waterway, insisting that the damage resulted from poor drainage infrastructure.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at the Forecourt of the State House on July 1, 2026, the outspoken preacher explained that floodwaters inundated his church during the recent Accra floods due to inadequate drains behind the premises.

"My church is not on a waterway. The flooding happened because the gutter behind the church is too small and cannot contain the volume of water when it rains," he indicated.

Kumchacha appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene by expanding the drainage system in the area to help prevent similar incidents in the future.

According to him, improving the gutter would significantly reduce the risk of flooding and protect lives and property whenever heavy rains occur.

He also used the opportunity to encourage Ghanaians whose homes and businesses were affected by the floods not to lose hope.

"I want to encourage everyone affected by the floods to remain strong and trust that things will get better. We should not lose hope despite these difficult times," he urged.

His comments come after heavy rains triggered widespread flooding across parts of Accra, on June 29, 2026, leaving several communities submerged, displacing residents, and causing extensive damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.
