The Achimota Zoompak transfer station in the Greater Accra Region has reportedly been overwhelmed with hundreds of tricycles engaged in waste management.

According to a post shared on X by Channel One News on July 1, 2026, the situation has caused severe congestion in less than two weeks after the facility was reopened to address sanitation challenges.

The post further indicated that the long queue of loaded refuse tricycles has slowed down operations at the transfer station, forcing operators to wait for a long time before offloading their refuse.

According to the post, the operators attributed the congestion to the closure of some transfer stations.

They called for quick intervention to solve the issue which can cause an outbreak of diseases if not urgently resolved.

In a video attached to the post, lots of fully loaded refuse tricycles are seen in a queue at the transfer station.
