PHOTOS: Yagbonwura's historic visit to Manhyia Palace

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II recently held a private audience with Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, along with his high-profile entourage.

The closed-door meeting came on the heels of a grand durbar held in honour of the Gonja monarch, which marked the 5th Awukudae celebration on the Asante calendar on July 1, 2026.

During the private engagement, the two royal figures exchanged warm pleasantries and reaffirmed the deep-seated fraternal bonds that have historically united the Asante and Gonja kingdoms.

The courtesy call is expected to serve as a platform for the two revered traditional rulers to deliberate on matters of mutual interest, strengthen inter-kingdom collaboration, and champion the causes of peace, national unity, and the safeguarding of Ghana's rich cultural heritage.

This historic encounter is expected to enhance cordial relations and mutual respect between the two.
