Top French referee Clément Turpin has been appointed as the main official for the Black Stars’ Round of 32 clash against Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on July 4.
Turpin has officiated numerous high-profile matches in Europe’s top competitions. The 43-year-old took charge of the 2021 UEFA Europa League final and the 2022 UEFA Champions League final.
On the international stage, he officiated at both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups. In the current tournament, he served as the main referee when England defeated Croatia 4-2 in the opening game of Group L, and was the fourth official when Mexico beat South Africa in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup.

For Saturday’s encounter, Turpin will be assisted by fellow French officials Nicolas Danos and Cyril Gringore as assistant referees.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team will be headed by Jérôme Brisard, with Willy Delajod and Benoît Millot providing additional support.
The Black Stars enter the game determined to secure victory and qualification, having collected four points from three matches: a 1-0 win over Panama, a 1-1 draw against England, and a 2-1 loss to Croatia.
Meanwhile, Colombia come into the clash as a formidable side following their impressive group-stage performances.
They recorded dominant wins over DR Congo and Uzbekistan before drawing 0-0 with Portugal.
The game is expected to be fiercely contested, with both sides eager to progress. The winner will face either Switzerland or Algeria in the Round of 16 on July 7, 2026.
