St Thomas Aquinas and Bishop Herman emerge champions at National Cadet Drill and Band Competition

The National Cadet Corps Ghana on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, held its National Cadet Drill and Band Competition at the Ghana National Fire Service Training School in James Town, Accra, with participants displaying discipline and resilience despite heavy rainfall.

The event brought together cadet corps from various senior high schools across the country to compete in drill and band performances aimed at promoting leadership, discipline and teamwork among students.

General Emmanuel Kwaw Erskine, who served as the main sponsor and reviewing officer for the event, praised the cadets for their determination and commitment. Addressing participants, he noted that true leadership is not tested in moments of comfort but in challenging circumstances, commending the students for performing admirably despite the adverse weather conditions.

In the drill competition, the Police Cadet Corps of St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School emerged as the national champions.

St Rose's Senior High School Air Force Cadet Corps from Akwatia secured the first runner-up position, while Obiri Yeboah Senior High School Immigration Cadet Corps finished as the second runner-up.

In the band competition, Bishop Herman Senior High School Air Force Cadet Corps from the Southern Sector was crowned national champion after delivering an impressive performance that kept the crowd entertained despite the persistent rain.

Organisers described the competition as a celebration of discipline, patriotism and leadership development among young people, highlighting the important role of cadet training in shaping future leaders for the country.
