Questions surrounding due process, property rights, and the rule of law have emerged following allegations by JonahCapital Nigeria Limited that actions were taken against its assets while legal proceedings concerning River Park Estate remain before the courts.
The allegations were made by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Kojo Ansah Mensah, during an interview on The Pulse on July 2, 2026.
According to Mensah, the dispute stems from differing interpretations of a Development Lease Agreement between JonahCapital and the Federal Capital Development Authority.
While the Federal Capital Territory Administration, under Minister Nyesom Wike, has maintained that the agreement expired and was subsequently revoked, JonahCapital insists that the lease remains valid and enforceable.
The company has since initiated legal proceedings challenging the government’s position, with the matter currently pending before the courts.

Mensah alleged that, despite the ongoing litigation, ACP Muhammed Ayi Musa, Chief Security Officer to the FCT Minister, led individuals accompanied by armed personnel into parts of River Park Estate and carried out activities on assets claimed by JonahCapital. These allegations have not been independently verified and remain disputed.
JonahCapital further alleges that the estate’s gatehouse was demolished on June 27, while portions of The Gallery Clubhouse were occupied on July 1.
The company also claims that several employees and contractors were assaulted, intimidated, and prevented from carrying out their duties during the incidents.
The company says it has released videos and photographs it believes document the activities at the estate and has submitted petitions to law enforcement and other government agencies.
Legal analysts observing the matter note that disputes involving land rights and contractual interests are ordinarily resolved through judicial processes, making allegations of enforcement activity during active litigation a matter of significant public interest.
Mensah has appealed for the protection of company personnel and assets pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
He also acknowledged the intervention efforts of Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu and FCT Commissioner of Police Sanusi, whom he credited with helping to maintain calm and prevent further escalation.
The case is increasingly being viewed as a significant test of administrative authority, judicial independence, investor protection, and the sanctity of contractual rights within Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
The office of the FCT Minister, ACP Muhammed Ayi Musa, and the Federal Capital Development Authority had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication. The underlying dispute remains before the courts.
