A man impersonating Dr Callistus Mahama and allegedly promising to secure appointments in exchange for money has been arrested.
The development was disclosed by Dr Mahama in a social media post, where he said the suspect had been operating for some time before investigations led to his arrest.
“For some time now, an individual has been impersonating Dr Callistus Mahama, falsely promising to secure appointments in exchange for payment. Following investigations, he has now been arrested,” he wrote.
Dr Mahama used the opportunity to remind the public that appointments are not obtained through payments and cautioned against individuals making such demands in his name.
“This should serve as a reminder to the public, no one is required to pay money to obtain an appointment. Anyone who demands payment while claiming to act on our behalf is a fraudster,” he said.
He also urged Ghanaians to verify suspicious requests through official channels and report anyone involved in similar activities.
“We urge all Ghanaians to remain vigilant, verify any suspicious requests through official channels, and report anyone engaging in such fraudulent activities. Please do not fall victim to these scams.
“Stay alert. Stay informed,” he added.
