The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has confirmed Barima Boakye Ansah as the substantive Oyoko Abohyen Abusuapanin.

According to a post by the Manhyia Palace on Facebook on Monday, July 6, 2026, the confirmation followed a rigorous selection process.

The Oyoko clan is the royal lineage from which the Asantehene is chosen. As the substantive Oyoko Abohyen Abusuapanin, Barima Boakye Ansah now becomes the supreme head of the Oyoko clan.

Given that the Oyoko clan occupies the Golden Stool of the Asante Kingdom, the Abusuapanin plays a key role in matters relating to royal and family succession, land administration, and the settlement of disputes within the clan.

The Oyoko clan is one of the eight major Akan abusua, and its traditional attribute is patience.
