'I was misled' - Osebo apologises over Kwadwo Safo Kantanka succession claim

Ghanaian fashion entrepreneur, Seth Appiah Richard Brown, popularly known as Osebo the Zaraman, has retracted his earlier statement suggesting that the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka named his son, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, as the sole heir and successor to the Kristo Asafo Mission.

In a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb on July 7, 2026, Osebo admitted that the information he shared in a previous interview was inaccurate and clarified that all three sons of the late Apostle Safo have the opportunity to lead the church.

According to him, he was misled when he made the earlier comments, adding that further details from the will had since emerged.

“I was misled. When I was talking in the previous interview, there was a lawyer standing by me. He tapped me to prevent me from taking the matter further because there were more details emerging,” he said.

Osebo explained that after the interview, lawyer Gary Nimako contacted him and shared a portion of the late Apostle’s will, which clarified the succession arrangement.

“After the interview, Gary Nimako reached out to me and sent me paragraph 27 of the will, which states that all three sons of the late Apostle Safo, Afofena, Nana Yaw Abraham and Obed Kwadwo Safo can all be leaders of the church.

“But I got it wrong, and I said it was only Akofena that can lead the church. So, I retract my earlier statement", he stated.

Osebo, a close associate of the family had initially claimed that the will of the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission had been read and that Kwadwo Safo Jnr, popularly known as Akofena, had been named as the heir and designated successor to lead the church.

Meanwhile, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena has been confirmed as the successor to the Kantanka Empire following the formal reading of the will of the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka at the Accra High Court.

This confirmation, announced on July 6, 2026, brings clarity to the leadership succession of both the Kristo Asafo Mission and the broader Kantanka establishment.

Just In: Osebo Zaraman has retracted his earlier statement regarding the alleged contents of the will of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo. According to him, what he told the court earlier today—that Israel Kwadwo Safo Jnr (Akofena) was named as a successor to his late father—was false. He clarified that the will does not contain any such provision. It is further clarified that the will reportedly does not single out any specific son as successor, but rather indicates that any of the sons may be considered for leadership of the Kristo Asafo Ministry.
