The Ezzy Group Foundation has unveiled a sponsorship package for Team Ghana as the nation's athletes intensify preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The ceremony, held on Tuesday, brought together sports administrators, athletes, corporate executives and government officials to show support for the national contingent ahead of the Games, scheduled for July 23 to August 2, 2026.

Delivering the keynote address, broadcaster Captain Smart, known privately as Blessed Godsbrain Smart, described the sponsorship as a significant investment in Ghana's sporting future.

He said the initiative demonstrates confidence in Ghanaian athletes and recognises the sacrifices they make while representing the country on the international stage.

"Champions are built through preparation, sacrifice and discipline. Athletes must be supported before they are celebrated," he said.

Captain Smart also urged corporate organisations and individuals to invest more in sports, stressing that sustained support is essential if Ghana is to achieve success at major international competitions.

Chief Executive Officer of Ezzy Group Foundation, Prince Chartey, explained that the foundation decided to support Team Ghana because many talented athletes struggle to access the financial resources needed to reach their full potential.

"There are so many stars in Ghana, but we don't have the sponsorship to support them and drive them to the level they can be," he said.

He added that the foundation's goal is to make things easier for people through its interventions.

"We are actually there to make complex things easy. But giving back is one thing we like. That's why we keep pushing our foundation," he said.

Prince Chartey expressed confidence in Team Ghana's ability to perform well in Glasgow, adding that the athletes already have the nation's support regardless of the number of medals they win.

"Even if they come back with zero medals, we will still be proud because they now know somebody is behind them," he added.

President of Ghana and Africa Paralympics, Sampson Deen, also appealed to the media and corporate Ghana to increase their support for Team Ghana, stressing that words of encouragement can have a significant impact on athletes' confidence and performance.

"The needed support is your words of encouragement. What you say on TV and radio gives them confidence. That is the medicine they need now," he said.

He further urged corporate organisations to dedicate a portion of the financial support often given to the Black Stars towards Team Ghana.

"Give us just 10 percent of the support you've been giving the Black Stars, and you'll see magic in Glasgow," he appealed.
