The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested a middle-aged man identified as Kwadwo Fordjour, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind an illegal mining operation at Domeabra in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.
The news of his arrest was shared on X by Sika Official on July 8, 2026.
According to the post, the task force also seized an excavator found at the site.
"The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested a middle-aged man identified as Kwadwo Fordjour, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind an illegal mining operation at Domeabra in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.

"During the operation, the task force seized an excavator found at the site and disabled pumping machines allegedly being used for the illegal mining activities", it stated.
The operation formed part of the crackdown on illegal mining activities widely known as galamsey in the region.
NAIMOS was established under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to coordinate and lead efforts against combatting illegal mining.
It also serves as the central command for all intelligence-led anti-illegal mining operations and works with relevant agencies to protect the country's natural resources.
